SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking a Project Restoration Engineer to advance ecosystem restoration and water resources projects across the Great Lakes and beyond. The role emphasizes stream and wetland restoration, living shorelines, and nature-based infrastructure, with a focus on hydraulics, hydrology, and geomorphology.

The position is full-time and benefits-eligible, reporting to the Lombard, Illinois office, with hybrid or distributed (remote) work options.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Agricultural, Biological, Civil, Environmental, or Coastal).
• Four years of ecosystem restoration design experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% for field data collection and meetings.
• Experience with hydraulic/hydrologic modeling and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Experience developing ecological restoration construction plans using Civil 3D.

Aufgaben

• Oversee project execution, schedules, budgets, and deliverables; manage client communication and quality assurance.
• Develop designs for stream/wetland restoration, living shorelines, and nature-based infrastructure.
• Conduct field investigations and analyses to optimize designs while reducing environmental impact.
• Prepare construction drawings, specs, and contract documents; support QA reviews.
• Oversee permitting by preparing regulatory documentation and coordinating with agencies.
• Perform modeling and calculations to support design optimization.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate science and engineering principles.
• Provide construction-phase services, monitor progress, and resolve on-site issues.
• Engage with clients to communicate goals and outcomes; support business development.
• Mentor junior staff and foster knowledge sharing within the team.
• Follow applicable regulations, standards, and company policies.
• Perform related work as assigned.
