SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking a Project Restoration Engineer to support ecological restoration across the Great Lakes and the U.S. from our Lombard, IL office.

The role offers hybrid or distributed work arrangements, with potential travel to meet client needs. The position requires a Bachelor's in Engineering and 4 years of restoration design experience, PE is preferred, and proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and HEC-RAS is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Agricultural, Biological, Civil, Environmental, or Coastal Engineering)
• Four (4) years of ecosystem restoration design experience
• PE certification (Professional Engineer)
• Travel up to 20% for field data collection and client meetings
• Experience with HEC-RAS and other hydraulic/hydrologic modeling software
• Experience developing restoration design construction plans in AutoCAD Civil 3D

Responsabilités

• Leads management of technical tasks, schedules, budgets and deliverables; communicates with clients; ensures quality assurance.
• Develops engineering designs for stream restoration, wetlands, living shorelines and nature-based infrastructure.
• Conducts field investigations and analyses to minimize environmental impacts while meeting project requirements.
• Prepares construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents per industry standards.
• Oversees permitting processes and coordinates with regulatory agencies.
• Performs modeling and calculations to support design optimization and environmental impact assessment.
• Coordinates with multidisciplinary teams to integrate environmental science and engineering principles.
• Provides construction-phase services by monitoring progress and addressing on-site challenges.
• Engages with clients to communicate goals and progress, supporting business development.
• Mentors junior staff and ensures knowledge sharing.
• Follows federal, Tribal, state, local regulations and company standards.
• Performs related work as assigned.
• Conduct geomorphic surveys to support restoration planning and design.
• Develop restoration/site civil construction plans in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Perform hydraulic, hydrologic, and water quality analyses.

Formation

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Agricultural, Biological, Civil, Environmental, or Coastal Engineering)

Four (4) years of ecosystem restoration design experience

Professional Engineer (PE) certification
