Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking an ECMO Specialist to operate and maintain ECMO circuits for patients requiring long-term support. The role works under the ECMO Physician and Coordinator, collaborating with the care team to plan and deliver complex patient care.

Ideal candidates have ICU/critical care experience as a Registered Nurse or Respiratory Therapist, with strong communication and teamwork skills, and familiarity with EMR systems. This nonexempt, full-time position is based in Minnesota.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year ICU or Critical Care experience as a Registered Nurse or Respiratory Therapist.
• Two years ICU/Critical Care experience preferred.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Experience working in a team environment.
• Computer skills with EMR systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the ECMO circuit and equipment for patients needing long-term pulmonary or cardiac support.
• Work under direction of the ECMO Physician and ECMO Coordinator.
• Collaborate with the health care team to plan and deliver patient care.
• Monitor patient status and ECMO circuit; maintain ECMO pump; manage patient care.
• Identify and correct problems related to ECMO procedures; follow policies and guidelines.
