Job summary

Ascension Saint Thomas West in Nashville, TN, seeks a Diagnostic Sonography Technologist specializing in echocardiography to perform complex imaging studies and support life-saving diagnoses. You will guide patients through exams, optimize image quality, and ensure accurate records in PACS while maintaining safety standards.

The role requires BLS within 30 days and ARDMS/ARRTCCI certifications within 6 months, with Rotating PRN shifts and a patient-centered approach to care.

Qualifications

• BLS within 30 days of hire date or transfer date.
• Cardiographic Tech credential from CCI within 180 days of hire date or transfer date.
• Radiologic Technologist Sonography credential from ARRT within 180 days of hire date or transfer date.
• ARDMS credentials within 180 days of hire date or transfer date.
• ARDMS Medical Sonography credential within 180 days of hire date or transfer date.
• CCI Cardiac Sonography credential within 180 days of hire date or transfer date.

Responsibilities

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Perform complex diagnostic imaging studies by skillfully maneuvering transducers and selecting precise technical parameters to capture the clearest possible clinical picture.

• Identify critical pathologies and anatomical structures in real-time to provide radiologists with the high-quality data necessary for life‑saving diagnoses.

• Guide patients through their exams by ensuring comfortable positioning and clear communication, maintaining a safe and empathetic environment throughout the procedure.

• Optimize the diagnostic workflow by meticulously validating image quality and patient history in PACS, ensuring the medical team has immediate access to accurate records.

• Uphold rigorous safety and quality control standards to ensure every procedure complies with regulatory requirements and provides the highest level of patient protection.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

• One or more of the following required:

• Cardiographic Tech credentialed from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

• Radiologic Technologist specializing in Sonography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

• Cardiac Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

• Medical Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

• Sonography Tech specializing in Cardiac credentialed from the Cardiovascular CredentialingInternational (CCI) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate'sdegree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
