Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking an exceptional children (EC) Teacher Assistant to support the assigned teacher and guide EC students toward IEP goals. This role provides access to general education as needed and works under the principal's direction.

The EC Teacher Assistant will assist with instruction, supervise students, prepare materials, document progress, and support daily school operations on site. Emphasis on safety, confidentiality, and collaboration with staff.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform essential functions with reasonable accommodations.
• Experience with EC students preferred but not required.
• Ability to follow teacher instructions and district policies.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to laws, policies, and procedures.
• Assist students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, and gymnasiums.
• Enforce school policies and rules.
• Coordinate with teachers to support instruction.
• Provide physical assistance as needed to students.
• Document student progress toward goals in IEPs.
• Prepare lesson materials and classroom displays.
• Assist with attendance procedures and record keeping.
• Support transportation duties as needed.
• Participate in staff development and meetings.
