Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking an EC teacher assistant to support the assigned teacher and instruct EC students under general supervision. The role helps students achieve IEP goals and provides access to general education as needed, following Board of Education policies.

Responsibilities include supervising students, preparing materials, assisting with therapy-related tasks, documenting progress, and participating in professional development.

Qualifications

• The EC teacher assistant provides support to the assigned teacher and EC students.
• Under general supervision, assists with instruction and classroom activities.
• Assists in guiding students toward IEP goals and access to general education.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
• Assist children individually or in small groups to help them master assignments and reinforce learning concepts
• Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, and gymnasiums
• Enforce administration policies and rules governing students
• Discuss duties with the teacher to coordinate instructional efforts
• Prepare lesson materials, bulletin boards, and demonstrations for the classroom
• Participate in transportation duties involving arrival and departure of students
• Provide physical assistance to students as needed, including self-help and toileting tasks
• Support therapists and teachers in therapy-related activities
• Document student progress toward IEP goals
