Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools seeks an Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher Assistant to support instructors and EC students under general supervision. You will help implement IEP goals, guide student progress, and provide access to general education as needed.

The role requires assisting with group and individual instruction, supervising in various school settings, and maintaining classroom order while following district policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations and laws pertaining to exceptional children.
• Knowledge and ability to use current technology and communication devices relevant to disabilities.
• Knowledge of classroom management and differentiation techniques.
• Knowledge of IEP processes, strategies, and learning considerations.
• Ability to communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality.
• Willingness to take initiative and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
• Assist children individually or in small groups to reinforce learning concepts.
• Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, and gymnasiums.
• Enforce school policies and rules governing students.
• Coordinate instructional efforts with the classroom teacher.
• Assist with materials handling, testing, and portfolio review.
• Document student progress toward IEP goals; present material as directed.
• Support attendance procedures and organize classroom spaces.
