Job summary

WSP is seeking an Entry Level Substation Structural Engineer for our Duluth, GA office. The following locations will also be considered: Oradell, NJ; and Baton Rouge, LA.

You will support analysis, design, and delivery of structural engineering solutions for substation projects, including steel structures, foundations, and rigid bus supports. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (or closely related discipline) is required.
• 0–1 year of relevant post-education experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with design/build concepts and construction documentation is expected.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, perform structural engineering work supporting electrical substation projects, including steel structures, rigid bus support design, and reinforced-concrete foundations.
• Prepare detailed structural calculations, design criteria, load development, and calculation packages to satisfy client standards and applicable codes.
• Create engineering drawing markups for drafting alignment with design calculations.
• Assist with developing construction specifications (steel and concrete) and cost estimates for proposals and schedules.
• Coordinate with electrical, civil, geotechnical, and construction teams for integrated substation design solutions.
• Utilize structural analysis and finite element modeling tools to size structural systems and foundations.
• Maintain QA/QC reviews of structural deliverables before submission.
