Job summary

WSP is seeking an Entry Level Substation Structural Engineer for our Duluth, GA office, with consideration for Oradell, NJ and Baton Rouge, LA. You will participate in the analysis, design, and delivery of structural solutions for substation projects, including load-bearing structures and foundations.

You will prepare calculations, drawings, specifications, and construction documents; work under supervision; collaborate with electrical, civil, geotechnical teams; utilize structural analysis

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • 0–1 years of post-education experience.
  • Familiarity with design/build concepts and relevant codes.
  • Strong writing and communication abilities for engineering documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Support structural engineering work for electrical substation projects, including steel structures and foundations.
  • Prepare detailed structural calculations, load development, and design criteria.
  • Create engineering drawing markups aligned with calculations.
  • Assist in developing construction specifications and project schedules.
  • Coordinate with electrical, civil, geotechnical and construction teams.
  • Use structural analysis tools to size systems and foundations and perform QA/QC reviews.
