Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an Entry Level Substation Structural Engineer for our Duluth, GA office. This role supports the Power & Energy Civil Structural Substation Team on projects involving steel structures, foundations, and rigid bus supports, with opportunities to learn design and documentation processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 0 to 1 year of post-education experience.
• Familiarity with design/build concepts and relevant codes.

Responsibilities

• Support electrical substation projects with structural engineering tasks including steel structures, rigid bus support design, and reinforced-concrete foundations.
• Prepare detailed structural calculations, design criteria, load development, and calculation packages to meet client standards and codes (ASCE7, ASCE113, ACI 318, AISC 360, NESC, IEEE).
• Create engineering drawing markups aligned with calculations.
• Assist with construction specifications, cost estimates, and proposals.
• Coordinate with electrical, civil, geotechnical, and construction teams.
• Utilize structural analysis and finite element tools to size systems and foundations.
• Support QA/QC reviews and reporting to project leads.
