Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an experienced Substation Structural Engineer for our Duluth, GA office, with consideration for Baton Rouge, LA and other locations. You will support electrical substation projects by designing steel structures, rigid bus supports, and foundations, while coordinating with electrical, civil, geotechnical, and construction teams.

The role requires 3–5 years of post-education experience, a Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, and an Engineer in Training

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or closely related discipline required.
• 3–5 years of post-education structural engineering experience, with design for substation structures and foundations.
• Engineer in Training Certification or PE licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide planning, analysis, design, and delivery of structural engineering solutions for electrical substation projects.
• Prepare design calculations, criteria, and calculation packages to meet codes and client standards.
• Develop construction specifications, cost estimates, and technical inputs for proposals and schedules.
• Produce and review structural drawings and fabrication-ready documents.
• Coordinate with electrical, civil, geotechnical, and construction teams for integrated designs.
• Utilize structural analysis and finite element modeling tools to size systems and foundations.
• Perform QA/QC reviews and support project reporting and coordination.
• Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and assist during construction.
• Mentor junior team members and ensure adherence to safety and company policies.
