Job summary

WSP is seeking an experienced Substation Structural Engineer for our Duluth, GA office with consideration for Baton Rouge, LA. You will support planning, analysis, design, and delivery of structural solutions for electrical substation projects, including steel structures, rigid bus supports, and foundations.

You will prepare calculations, design criteria, and construction documentation, review drawings, and coordinate with electrical, civil, geotechnical, and construction teams to ensure

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or closely related field.
• 3–5 years of post-education structural engineering experience, including substation design.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance for planning, analysis, design, and delivery of structural solutions for electrical substations.
• Prepare structural calculations, design criteria, and packages to meet client standards and codes.
• Develop construction specifications and cost estimates for proposals and projects.
• Produce and review structural drawings and fabrication-ready documentation.
• Coordinate with electrical, civil, geotechnical, and construction teams for integrated designs.
• Utilize structural analysis/finite element tools to size systems and foundations.
• Perform QA/QC reviews of deliverables before submission.
• Support project managers with reporting and coordination.
• Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs during construction.
