Job summary

WSP is seeking an Early Career Electrical Engineer (ESSP) for our Freeport, Maine office with consideration for Orlando, FL; Fort Mill, NC; Ann Arbor, MI; and Syracuse, NY locations. You will perform electrical studies and develop or troubleshoot SCADA systems for utility and commercial clients, covering generation facilities, substations, and transmission/distribution systems.

As part of the Power Delivery ESSP, you will work with protective relaying, planning studies, and design studies using

Qualifications

  • Must be a recent Engineering Graduate (Bachelor’s Degree) or enrolled in a university pursuing engineering
  • Analytical mindset with ability to evaluate situations and make decisions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, math, predictive models, spreadsheets
  • Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with company policies
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project needs

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical studies and develop/troubleshoot SCADA systems for utility and commercial clients
  • Conduct power system studies including protection, planning, and dynamics analysis
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and travel to project sites for testing and commissioning
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation with calculations and sketches
  • Support senior engineers with risk assessment and design concept input
  • Assist with project controls, procurement, and permitting activities
