Job summary

WSP is seeking an Early Career Electrical Engineer (ESSP) for our Freeport, Maine office with consideration for Orlando, FL; Fort Mill, NC; Ann Arbor, MI; and Syracuse, NY locations. You will perform electrical studies and develop or troubleshoot SCADA systems for utility and commercial clients, covering generation facilities, substations, and transmission/distribution systems.

As part of the Power Delivery ESSP, you will work with protective relaying, planning studies, and design studies using

Qualifications

Must be a recent Engineering Graduate (Bachelor’s Degree) or enrolled in a university pursuing engineering
Analytical mindset with ability to evaluate situations and make decisions
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team
Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, math, predictive models, spreadsheets
Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with company policies
Occasional travel may be required depending on project needs

Responsibilities

Perform electrical studies and develop/troubleshoot SCADA systems for utility and commercial clients
Conduct power system studies including protection, planning, and dynamics analysis
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and travel to project sites for testing and commissioning
Prepare technical reports and documentation with calculations and sketches
Support senior engineers with risk assessment and design concept input
Assist with project controls, procurement, and permitting activities
