Job summary

WSP is seeking an Early Career Electrical Engineering ESSP candidate for our Phoenix, AZ office, with San Diego, CA also considered. The role involves electrical studies and SCADA development for utility and industrial clients, covering substations, transmission, and distribution systems.

You will support protective relaying, power system planning, and design studies, plus networking, control systems, and data acquisition work across projects. Relocation not offered at this time.

Qualifications

  • Recent engineering graduate or enrolled in an engineering degree.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making ability.
  • Excellent communication for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams to meet objectives.
  • Solid technical writing and office software skills.
  • Commitment to safety policies and workplace conduct.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical studies and develop SCADA systems for utility and commercial clients.
  • Analyze protective relaying, coordination, and relay settings with SCADA integration.
  • Conduct power system planning studies including load flow and stability analyses.
  • Design substation grounding, insulation coordination, and power quality studies.
  • Configure RTUs, HMIs, PLCs, and protection communications networks.
  • Develop control logic and test at project sites; travel as needed.
  • Prepare technical reports and document findings with calculations and sketches.
  • Assist with risk assessment, project controls, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Complete training on tasks and contribute to business needs.
