Job summary

Sprouts Farmers Market is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to direct all store operations, drive sales, and lead a team of about ten staff. You will ensure premier customer service, manage perishable and non-perishable departments, and maintain compliance with safety and labeling standards.

You will oversee inventory, labor, and expenses to hit targets while fostering a culture of growth and accountability.

Qualifications

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent, a degree in business management, marketing, retail, communications, or related field preferred.
• 1–3 years of retail experience; or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
• Experience leading non-perishable and perishable department operations with integrity, including profit and loss, safety, sanitation, staffing, disciplinary actions, training, developing leaders, conducting performance appraisals, meeting deadlines, managing inventory and shrink, executing promotions, and merchandising.
• Professional communication skills, both written and verbal, with attention to detail, analytical, and solution-focused decisiveness.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, bookkeeping/accounting, time and attendance, and HR software.
• Flexible to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Food Safety certification required.
• Able to lift 60 pounds between 15 and 70 inches; heavier items occasionally.
• Push/pull racks and merchandise with 80–100 pounds force.
• Stand and walk for extended periods; reach and transfer items.
• Wear PPE as required (non-slip shoes, etc.).
• Experience with store tools/equipment: phone, computer, scales, scanners, cash register, pallet jacks.

• Provide advanced product knowledge to customers and staff.
• Communicate expectations, policy changes, and new initiatives clearly.

• Address emergencies, equipment failures, and issues with urgency.
• Oversee P&L: manage inventory, labor, and expenses to meet sales targets.
• Ensure safety and food safety compliance per audits.
• Address safety, security, and loss prevention concerns with the team.
• Ensure regulatory compliance across labor, health, safety, and sanitation.
