Job summary

CommuniCare Health Center Careers is seeking a Medical Assistant to support both front and back office operations in a clinical setting. Responsibilities include patient intake, vitals, injections, EKGs, and coordinating referrals.

The role requires at least a high school diploma, 1 year MA experience (or MA certification), BLS certification, and proficiency with EMR/EHR systems. Travel to other clinic sites may be required; scheduled hours may change.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum one year experience as a Medical Assistant and/or a Medical Assistant Diploma and/or a Medical Assistant Certification.
• EMR/EHR experience preferred.
• Experience in a primary health care setting preferred.
• Knowledgeable of personal computers.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Ability to travel to other clinic sites as needed.
• Scheduled hours and/or work locations are subject to change.

Responsibilities

• Assists with day-to-day operations of the front and back office; coordinates referrals and patient communication.
• Administers injections and assists with non-invasive procedures (EKG, vision/hearing screenings).
• Obtains patient history and vital signs; documents quality metrics and participates in audits.
• Maintains inventory of medical supplies and ensures equipment calibration and cleaning.
• Registers patients, updates demographics, and activates insurance plans; posts encounter data.
• Performs end-of-day reconciliation and secures cash deposits.
• Prepares for next-day clinic by pre-registering patients and screening for eligibility.
• Provides exceptional customer service and assists other departments as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
