Job summary

CommuniCare Health Center Careers is seeking a Medical Assistant to support both front and back office operations in a clinical setting. The role includes administering injections, assisting with EKGs and screenings, taking patient histories, and ensuring accurate documentation for regulatory audits.

The position requires at least a high school diploma, MA certification or diploma, and BLS. Experience with EMR/EHR and travel to other clinic sites is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year experience as Medical Assistant and/or Medical Assistant Diploma and/or Medical Assistant Certification.
• EMR/EHR experience preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• Travel to other clinic sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assists with day-to-day operations of front and back office. Coordinates referrals and patient communication.
• Administers injections and assists with non-invasive procedures such as EKGs and vision/hearing screenings.
• Obtains patient medical history and vital signs; documents quality metrics and participates in audits.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and ensures equipment is calibrated, charged, and cleaned.
• Registers patients, updates demographics, and activates insurance plans; posts encounter data.
• Performs end of day reconciliations; ensures cash handling and deposits.
• Prepares for next day by scheduling appointment types and chart prep; screens for program eligibility.
• Provides exceptional customer service and assists other departments as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
