Job summary

Little Ruby’s Café, NYC’s beloved Australian-inspired restaurant, seeks an Assistant General Manager to lead front-of-house operations with warmth and hospitality. You’ll oversee scheduling, training, compliance, and guest satisfaction to ensure consistent, high-quality service.

As a hands-on leader, you’ll train and coach FOH staff, manage POS and cash handling, and collaborate with BOH for a cohesive guest experience while upholding health and safety standards in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of senior management in a high-volume restaurant or hospitality setting.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Comfortable using POS systems, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office.
• Completion of (or willingness to obtain) Food Handler’s Certificate, PCI/DSS, and Alcohol Awareness Training.
• Ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs for extended periods.
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Experience working in fast-paced, physically demanding environments.

Responsibilities

• Assist the General Manager in all aspects of the operation.
• Lead and supervise FOH operations to ensure seamless, high-quality service.
• Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and genuine hospitality.
• Interview, hire, train, and coach FOH staff.
• Manage staff scheduling to meet labor and service targets.
• Conduct performance reviews and ongoing staff development.
• Maintain deep knowledge of food and beverage menus to support guest-facing staff.
• Oversee POS functions, cash handling, and shift reconciliation.
• Monitor and order operational supplies.
• Ensure compliance with local health, safety, and labor regulations.
• Enforce sanitation standards in line with DOH and company policy.
• Oversee completion of opening and closing procedures.
• Work closely with BOH and management to ensure a cohesive service experience.
• Participate in daily pre‑shift meetings and ongoing training sessions.
• Troubleshoot and report any facility or equipment issues as needed.
