Greyhound Lines, Inc is seeking a Driver Manager in Chicago to oversee a team of drivers, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and company policies while optimizing route efficiency. This leadership role focuses on employee development, labor relations, and performance management.

The ideal candidate will have transportation or logistics experience, strong problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 3+ years in operations leadership; strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to analyze data, generate reports, and make data-driven decisions.
• Proficiency in diplomacy, judgment, and discretion with the company and union officials.
• Safety, workers compensation, labor relations, and CBA experience preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel and email.

Responsibilities

• Interviews, selects, trains, and manages the driver workforce.
• Ensures all personnel have been trained and/or retrained according to operational procedures.
• Follows up with new drivers at regular scheduled intervals on their performance.
• Reviews manpower needs and ensures proper coverage, including managing driver dispatch for route personnel.
• Ensures drivers are reporting to work on time and in complete uniform ready to work.
• Provides ongoing feedback to drivers concerning strengths and areas of needed improvement using DriveCam reporting and customer feedback.
• Investigates and acts on feedback regarding drivers and safe operational practices.
• Plans future books offs and run change assignments.
• Ensures compliance with safety standards and DOT/FMCSA regulations.
• Maintains company standards for drivers in appearance, training, safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Ensures drivers are properly credentialed to operate a commercial motor vehicle.
• Collaborates with HR on personnel matters and labor relations.
• Ensures adherence to the CBA and proper handling of grievance processes.
• Reviews electronic and paper DOT logs.
• Monitors on-time performance in real time.
• Manages employee performance and disciplinary actions as per policy.
