You will work to ensure safe, compliant transport, complete required documentation, and communicate with Dispatch. The position emphasizes customer service and adherence to DOT regulations, with hours varying by operation.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or a commercial learning permit (CLP) prior to entering job classification.
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under section 391 of the FMC regulations.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down sets of trailers that require an average lift force of approximately 100 pounds, several times a day.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight weighing up to 100 pounds, several times a week.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Perform freight handling using appropriate equipment, including forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch regarding delays, arrivals, or equipment issues.
• Provide internal/external customer service and solicit new business leads.
