Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a driver to operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles or straight trucks, with non-driving duties such as forklift operation and dock work.

Qualified candidates must possess a Class A CDL, pass DOT requirements, and be able to lift up to 100 pounds. The role requires safety inspections, freight handling, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Pay ranges from hourly $26.23 to $31.23.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL or a commercial learning permit (CLP) prior to entering job classification.
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all DOT regulatory requirements under 49 CFR part 391.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down trailers requiring up to ~100 lbs lift on multiple occasions.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight up to 100 lbs multiple times per week.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Perform freight handling using motorized and manual equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Collect checks for freight charges and maintain related documentation as required.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and ensure placarding matches hazmat shipments as required.
• Communicate with Dispatch regarding delays, arrivals, equipment problems, etc.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service.
• Interact with customers to determine pick-up or delivery needs; provide leads to sales.
• Where necessary, perform road driver or freight handler duties.
• Chain vehicle tires as required.
• Follow all laws/regulations and company policies.
