Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a driver to operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles or straight trucks, to pick up and deliver trailers between service centers and/or turn-point locations.

The role includes education and driving skills development, with possible non-driving duties such as forklift operation and dock work. Responsibilities include pre-trip/post-trip inspections, logging daily activities, hooking trailers, following dispatch instructions, and hazmat compliance.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL or CLP prior to entering job classification.
• Must possess acceptable MVR based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all DOT regulations under FMC regulations.
• Ability to count and perform basic math.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down trailers with average lift ~100 lb.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete training.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles/straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Verify and complete required documentation.
• Follow Dispatch instructions and communicate delays or issues.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding requirements.
• Provide internal/external customer service.
• Perform dock work or forklift duties when needed.
