Job summary

CSL Plasma in Kansas City is seeking a healthcare professional to evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures. The role administers approved immunizations, provides limited emergency medical care, and maintains donor safety per SOPs.

Qualifications

• Active state licensure from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, naturopathic training program or medical school required OR
• Completion of a foreign allopathic or osteopathic medical school and only if also currently licensed as a physician or certified as an EMT in the state
• Minimum of one (1) year experience in a health care environment or one year of clinical experience from a vocational or nursing institution
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred
• Ability to make and analyze a physical assessment of heart, lung sounds, signs of drug use, etc.
• Ability to instruct donors, staff and community regarding the benefit of plasma donation programs

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the evaluation of donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures and administration of approved immunizations
• Promotes positive customer relations with all donors
• Conducts confidential donor interviews to obtain suitability information
• Responds to medically related questions with Center Medical Director/Physician
• Performs medical history reviews and health assessments on donors
• Notifies and counsels donors regarding reactive test results
• Explains informed consent to applicant donors and obtains signatures
• Handles medical emergencies at the Center and maintains emergency kits
• Reviews test results and determines continued donor suitability
• Manages donor immunization programs and antibody titer reviews
• Ensures accurate recording of donor data in the information system
• Maintains a clean, safe work environment and complies with HSE/OSHA policies
• Maintains donor, personnel, and center confidentiality
• May be cross-trained in other areas; bilingual skills may be required
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
