Job summary

CSL Plasma in Topeka, KS is seeking a clinical professional to evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures and provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff. You will interview donors and review medical histories to determine donation eligibility and will work with the Center Medical Director on donor suitability.

Responsibilities include reviewing test results, counseling donors with reactive findings, and following SOPs while escalating critical medical situations

Qualifications

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic medical training program.
• If graduation is from a foreign allopathic or osteopathic medical school, must also currently be licensed as a physician or state certification as an emergency medical technician
• For NY: current state licensure or certification as an RN, MD or DO in the state you are applying for work or in a reciprocal state
• Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience in a health care environment
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred
• Ability to make and analyze a physical assessment of heart, lung sounds, signs of drug use, etc.Different qualifications or responsibilities may apply based on local legal and/or educational requirements. Refer to local job documentation where applicable.#CSLMSA

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures under general supervision.
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff.
• Interview donors and perform medical history reviews to determine donation suitability.
• Respond to medically related questions and advise staff on donor suitability with Center Medical Director.
• Review test results to determine continued donor suitability and assess donor symptoms.
• Counsel donors regarding reactive test results and refer to community facilities for follow-up.
• Provide routine care following SOPs and escalate critical medical situations to physicians or local medical services as required.
