Job summary

SMX is seeking an AI/ML Engineer to bridge business needs with modern AI solutions for a Federal customer in the Richmond, VA area. You will design AI agents, investigate Databricks and Palantir capabilities, and craft LLM prompts to accelerate development.

You will build chatbots and train models on production data to support predictive analyses. The role emphasizes agile teamwork, independent work, strong documentation, and a commitment to delivering mission-critical results.

Qualifications

• US citizenship and active DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• At least 6 years of related work experience.
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on development in training AI models.
• Experience integrating AI capabilities into DevOps pipelines.
• Experience developing agents using OpenAI LLMs.
• Experience with AI chatbots for business needs.
• Experience training ML models on production data.
• Familiar with agile development methodology.
• Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and independently.
• Strong knowledge sharing and documentation skills.
• Driven, self-directed with a mission focus.

Responsibilities
