Job summary

Gilbane Building Company seeks a DOB certified Project Superintendent to independently supervise trade contractors on projects up to $30M. This on-site role is a key member of the project team, directing daily coordination and enforcing the project schedule.

You will lead safety programs, manage field teams, and collaborate with owners and subcontractors to deliver quality results on time. A strong background in engineering/construction management and DOB certification is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• 5–10 years as a Superintendent on commercial/industrial projects valued at $15 million to $30 million+.
• OSHA 30‑Hour Construction Safety Certification required.
• Current NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) Registered Construction Superintendent certification required.
• Safety Trained Supervisor Construction (STS‑C) certification preferred.
• Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, AED, and Stop the Bleed training.

Responsibilities

• Directs the day‑to‑day coordination of Gilbane’s trade partners and their sub‑contractors to ensure high‑quality work that meets the approved project schedule
• Develops, documents, and communicates the work plan regarding changes made in the field
• Maintains a thorough understanding of contract documents in order to proactively anticipate potential problems
• Leads contractor meetings on a regular basis
• Maintains daily reports and documentation using software tools
• Plans, coordinates, and manages jobsite logistics
• Coaches and mentors less Field Engineers on project needs, construction knowledge, and business acumen
• Understands scopes of work; assists in writing scopes of work and participates in buyout
• Leads stretch and flex, daily huddle, and pre‑task plan reviews
