Job summary

American Homes 4 Rent is seeking a District Manager to oversee daily operations of a residential portfolio in the Charleston market. This role mentors the district team and aligns goals with the company’s strategy, including brokerage duties where applicable.

Responsibilities include driving occupancy, supervising staff, and managing rent collection, leasing, and maintenance while ensuring adherence to budgets and quality standards.

Qualifications

• MBA/professional degree not required; a Bachelor's is required in real estate, finance, business management and/or equivalent.
• Minimum five years in general management with 8+ direct reports and full P&L responsibility.
• Experience in property operations, real estate, or property management preferred.
• State Real Estate License due within 60 days of start date; valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Execute the district's strategic vision to drive rental growth and occupancy.
• Monitor assets, advise on acquisitions or dispositions to improve portfolio performance.
• Lead and coach the district team, ensuring development and accountability.
• Oversee day-to-day operations: rent collection, leasing, maintenance, and budgeting.
• Analyze monthly financials and implement process improvements; ensure quality standards.
