Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Project Manager to join our Transmission & Distribution practice in the Midwest region, with base in St. Louis, MO or Columbus, OH. You will lead distribution engineering projects, ensure profitability, and manage schedules, costs, and QA/QC while developing client relationships.

The role requires a PE and PMP, strong communication, and proven project leadership in utility design/construction. Travel about 25% is expected as projects vary across locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, or a related field from an accredited university.
• Minimum of 7 years of related experience (3+ years managing engineering projects in the utility industry preferred).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal abilities; ability to present complex information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall management of projects from concept to completion, including routing/siting, environmental, permitting, planning, estimating, engineering, and closeout.
• Leverage existing client relationships, create new relationships, and pursue repeat work within each client account.
• Serve as the primary point of contact with clients and participate in contract negotiations.
• Develop and monitor project schedules, manage scope, and control project costs.
• Own internal project financials, risk management, and change management processes.
• Develop project policies, procedures, and project controls systems; ensure QA/QC adherence.
• Travel to client and project locations; mentor Distribution team and assist with hiring/training.
