Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in the United States seeks an Electrical Utility Distribution Engineer to join a project team of engineers and designers utilizing their knowledge of engineering and design practices to prepare construction sketches and details.

Responsibilities include analyses, bill of materials, cost estimates, traffic control plans, and developing work packages. This hybrid role requires 3 days in the office and offers relocation assistance where applicable.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree is required.
• Two or more years of experience in electric utility distribution or related fields.
• Knowledge of distribution design methods and their application.
• Familiarity with codes, standards, and distribution software such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS, PoleForeman.
• Familiarity with design codes like NESC, NEC, ANSI, IEEE, GIS/GWD.
• Experience with complex distribution projects (120/208V through 34 kV).
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare construction sketches and details for overhead and underground network services.
• Perform structural analyses and short circuit/voltage drop calculations.
• Produce bill of materials, cost estimates, and traffic control drawings.
• Analyze and design priority feeds and support maintenance/recapitalization.
• Develop work packages and provide as-builts at project completion.
• Collaborate in a hybrid office setting with engineers and designers.
