Job summary

Durham School Services is seeking a dispatcher to manage daily driver schedules, route coverage, and vehicle assignments across our service area. You will coordinate with drivers, monitors, and maintenance to ensure on-time, safe student transport.

Responsibilities include communicating routing details, assisting with directions, maintaining accurate records, handling customer inquiries, and escalating issues as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in dispatch or routing of drivers preferred.
• Knowledge of local geography for efficient routing.
• Excellent interpersonal and telephone skills.
• Ability to read and interpret documents.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Bi-lingual abilities a plus.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and routing software.
• Capable of independent work.
• Strong record-keeping and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Directs and monitors daily assignments; schedules drivers and assigns vehicles to cover routes.
• Ensures on-time completion of activities by drivers and bus assistants.
• Communicates route details to drivers for proper execution.
• Assists drivers with routing directions and special service needs.
• Maintains route documentation and records in compliance with requirements.
• Coordinates vehicle service and repairs to ensure uninterrupted service.
• Handles customer concerns and escalates as needed.
• Maintains high dispatch operating standards and professional conduct.
