Job summary

Dayton Freight Lines is seeking a Dispatch Assistant for the 12:00 AM - 5:30 AM shift to ensure on-time pickup and delivery of shipments. You will support the Service Center Manager, Operations Manager, and Supervisors while working closely with drivers to maintain reliable service.

The role emphasizes strong communication with customers and interline partners, accurate billing, and timely data entry. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented with solid keyboarding and Microsoft Office skills, and

Qualifications

• Experience using Microsoft Office programs and strong keyboarding skills.
• Detail-oriented with excellent communication and customer service.
• Experience in fast-paced environments and ability to work 2nd shift.

Responsibilities

• Assist service center and operations managers and supervisors.
• Assist drivers and support on-time pickup and delivery.
• Prepare bills of lading and delivery receipts.
• Maintain clear communication with customers and interline partners.
• May perform data entry and answer phones as needed.

Responsibilities

Dispatch Assistants are responsible for satisfying customers by providing consistent and reliable on time pick-up and delivery of shipments.

• Assisting the Service Center Manager, Operations Manager and/or Supervisors
• Providing assistance to Drivers
• Preparing bills of lading and delivery receipts
• Maintaining excellent communication with external and internal customers as well as interline companies

May be asked to assist with:

• Data entry
• Answering phones
• Freight reports
• Driver collect reports
• Billing and filling

Qualifications

• Knowledge and skillful in Microsoft Office Programs
• Excellent keyboarding skills
• Has worked in a fast paced environment and has an excellent attention to detail
• Exceptional communication and customer service skills
• Available to work a 2nd shift schedule
