Job summary

Dayton Freight Lines is seeking a Dispatch Assistant to ensure reliable on-time pickup and delivery of shipments from our Walton, KY facility. You will support the Service Center Manager, Operations Manager, and Supervisors while assisting drivers and coordinating with customers and interline partners.

Ideal candidates will have strong Microsoft Office skills, excellent keyboarding, and a proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting with exceptional communication and customer service.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent keyboarding and data entry skills.
• Strong communication and customer service capabilities; detail-oriented in fast-paced settings.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Service Center Manager, Operations Manager and/or Supervisors.
• Support Drivers and provide necessary assistance to field teams.
• Prepare bills of lading and delivery receipts.
• Maintain clear communication with customers, interline partners and internal teams.
• May assist with data entry, answering phones, freight reports, driver collect reports, billing and filing.

Responsibilities

Dispatch Assistants are responsible for satisfying customers by providing consistent and reliable on time pick-up and delivery of shipments.

• Assisting the Service Center Manager, Operations Manager and/or Supervisors
• Providing assistance to Drivers
• Preparing bills of lading and delivery receipts
• Maintaining excellent communication with external and internal customers as well as interline companies

May be asked to assist with:

• Data entry
• Answering phones
• Freight reports
• Driver collect reports
• Billing and filling

Qualifications

• Knowledge and skillful in Microsoft Office Programs
• Excellent keyboarding skills
• Has worked in a fast paced environment and has an excellent attention to detail
• Exceptional communication and customer service skills
• Available to work a 2nd shift schedule
