Job summary

American Red Cross in Durham, NC is seeking a Community Disaster Program Specialist to guide and support trained volunteers in delivering comfort and care during disasters. You will build robust volunteer engagement using established processes and collaborate with volunteer services staff to ensure communities are prepared to respond.

Regional deployments, training requirements, and a strong focus on frontline communities are part of this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Minimum 3 years of related experience.
• Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Empower Volunteers: Facilitate and support a diverse volunteer team delivering disaster cycle services.
• Support the Program: Assist with implementation of disaster cycle services activities within an area.
• Mission Capacity Building: Engage disaster volunteers representative of the communities they serve.
• Engage Community: Support local efforts to prepare and mobilize communities for disasters.
• Manage in a Matrix: Meet targets for volunteer engagement and Disaster Action Team response.
• Know Your Communities: Be the local point of contact for partners and communities.
• Ready to Respond: Participate in disaster response operations after training.
