Job summary

The American Red Cross in Morgantown, WV is seeking a Community Disaster Program Specialist to lead and support volunteers delivering comfort and care during disasters. You will build a strong, diverse volunteer base and ensure readiness through established processes.

You will deploy regionally at least once yearly, collaborate with partners, and help communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters while meeting program objectives and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in social services, emergency management, disaster relief or nonprofit coordination.
• Travel required - 20%.

Responsibilities

• Empower Volunteers: Facilitate and support a diverse volunteer team for disaster cycle services, ensuring rapid, accessible delivery.
• Support the Program: Assist with program activities or functions within a geographic area.
• Mission Capacity Building: Engage disaster volunteers representing the communities served.
• Engage Community: Partner with local organizations to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters.
• Manage in a Matrix: Implement plans to meet targets for volunteer engagement and local disaster response.
• Know Your Communities: Act as local contact for partners and frontline communities.
• Ready to Respond: Participate in regional disaster responses after training requirements.
