Job summary

The American Red Cross in Hawthorne, NY is seeking a Community Disaster Program Specialist to support the Greater New York Region in Metro North, covering Rockland and Westchester Counties.

Responsibilities include empowering volunteers, assisting with disaster cycle services programs, engaging communities, and coordinating with partners. Requirements include a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, a minimum of 3 years’ related experience, and a valid driver's license. Bilingual preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Minimum 3 years of related experience.
• A current, valid driver's license with good driving record is required.

Responsibilities

• Empower Volunteers: Facilitate and support a diverse volunteer team responsible for disaster cycle services.
• Support the Program: Assist with the successful implementation of disaster cycle services activities.
• Mission Capacity Building: Engage disaster volunteers representing the communities served.
• Engage Community: Partner with local organizations and leaders to prepare for and respond to disasters.
• Manage in a Matrix: Implement plans to meet targets for volunteer engagement and Disaster Action Team response.
• Know Your Communities: Act as the local point of contact for partners and communities.
• Ready to Respond: Participate in disaster response operations upon training completion.
