Job summary

American Red Cross in Milwaukee, WI seeks a Community Disaster Program Specialist to guide and support volunteer teams delivering disaster relief services. You will build a continuous volunteer engagement foundation, ensuring readiness and culturally competent service delivery to communities in need.

Regional deployments may occur; candidates near Milwaukee are preferred. Requires a Bachelor's degree, 3+ years of related experience, and a valid driver’s license. Competitive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Minimum 3 years of related experience.
• A current valid driver's license and good driving record is required.

Responsibilities

• Empower Volunteers: Facilitate and support a diverse volunteer team responsible for the implementation of volunteer‑led disaster cycle services.
• Support the Program: Assist with the successful implementation of disaster cycle services program activities or function within a geographic area.
• Mission Capacity Building: Engage disaster volunteers who are the primary workforce, representative of the communities served.
• Engage Community: Support local efforts to prepare and mobilize communities for disasters and emergencies.
• Manage in a Matrix: Implement plans to meet targets for volunteer engagement and disaster response within geographic area.
• Know Your Communities: Act as local point of contact for partners and communities; collaborate with leaders supporting frontline communities.
• Ready to Respond: Participate in disaster response operations in the region after training.
