Job summary

WM is seeking a Director of Wastewater Process Engineering to lead enterprise-wide initiatives for landfill liquids management and treatment. You will establish and oversee policies, drive compliance with environmental standards, and guide cross-functional teams on advanced treatment technologies.

The role requires strategic leadership, collaboration with regulatory agencies, and management of external consultants to improve operational efficiency across facilities nationwide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering/environmental field; 10+ years in industrial wastewater treatment design/operations
• Master’s degree preferred with 10+ years experience and 3+ years of management
• PE license preferred but not required; strong regulatory and environmental knowledge

Responsibilities

• Directs policy and program development for landfill liquids handling, treatment and disposal
• Leads design/construction of leachate treatment facilities and due diligence during asset acquisition
• Provides leadership on permitting, optimization of treatment systems and compliance with discharge permits
• Interacts with corporate and field teams on environmental technologies and compliance programs
• Ensures safety culture and manages external consultants/research scientists
