Job summary

WM is seeking a Director, Wastewater Process Engineer to lead enterprise-wide landfill liquids management initiatives and oversee treatment across facilities. The role reports to the Sr. Director of ES&WT and develops policies, procedures, and systems for compliance and performance improvement.

The position requires strong technical leadership, experience in leachate treatment, permits, and project leadership with a focus on environmental excellence and business results.

Qualifications

• Requires a BS in Engineering/Environmental Management or related field.
• 10+ years overall experience with 7+ years in industrial wastewater design/operations.
• Master’s degree preferred with 10+ years experience and 3+ years of management responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Directs development and implementation of enterprise-wide landfill liquids management and treatment initiatives.
• Leads policy, procedures, training, and guidance on engineering and environmental compliance.
• Oversees design, permitting, and construction of leachate treatment facilities.
• Interacts with program management and field personnel across Engineering Science and Wastewater Treatment disciplines.
• Balances enterprise financial goals with external environmental regulations and best practices.
• Establishes internal policies for environmental management based on scientific evidence.
