Job summary

WM seeks a Director of Wastewater Process Engineering to lead enterprise-wide landfill liquids management initiatives. You will craft strategies, set policies, and oversee treatment and disposal across facilities, ensuring compliance with evolving regulations and industry standards.

You will guide project teams, collaborate with Corporate and Area leadership, and translate research into scalable, cost-effective treatment solutions while championing safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Environmental Management, Biology, Chemistry or similar.
• At least 10 years total experience with 7+ years in industrial wastewater treatment design/ops.
• Master’s degree preferred with 10+ years of experience and 3+ years of management suggested.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of staff and external consultants for landfill liquids management and treatment programs.
• Lead permitting, design, construction support for leachate facilities, and due diligence in asset acquisitions.
• Use flow and mass balances to troubleshoot and improve leachate treatment performance and ensure permit compliance.
• Develop and promote environmental policies, procedures, and best practices across WM facilities.
