Job summary

WM is seeking a Director, Wastewater Process Engineer to lead enterprise-wide initiatives for landfill liquids management and treatment. You will oversee policies, procedures, and systems ensuring regulatory compliance and operational efficiency across facilities.

Reporting to the Sr. Director of ES&WT, you will provide technical leadership on complex projects, develop innovative treatment solutions, and collaborate with internal and external experts on R&D initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Environmental Management, Biology, Chemistry or similar.
• At least 10 years of overall experience with 7+ years in industrial wastewater treatment design and operations.
• Master’s degree in Engineering/Environmental Management/Biology/Chemistry preferred; 10+ years experience; 3+ years of management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of staff involved in environmental solutions for landfill liquids handling, treatment and disposal.
• Lead permitting, design, and construction of leachate treatment facilities and due diligence during asset acquisitions.
• Use process engineering tools like flow and mass balances to troubleshoot and improve leachate treatment performance.
• Direct development of leachate and groundwater treatment tech to improve efficiency and environmental outcomes.
• Interact with program management and subject matter experts across disciplines.
