Job summary

Early Warning is seeking a Director of Site Reliability Engineering to lead reliability, scalability and operability of our production services. You will translate business priorities into measurable reliability outcomes and ensure teams have the necessary practices, capabilities and operating mechanisms to achieve them.

You will remain hands-on to contribute code and automation when appropriate, while growing a high-impact, diverse SRE organization across domains and platforms.

Qualifications

• Typically 12+ years of relevant software engineering, site reliability engineering, or production engineering experience, including significant technical leadership.
• 5+ years of people leadership experience, with success leading engineering teams and developing managers.
• Experience operating highly available, business-critical distributed systems and leading reliability improvements across a major product or platform.
• Strong understanding of SRE practices, including SLOs/SLIs, error budgets, observability, incident management, automation, capacity and resilience.
• Demonstrated hands-on technical capability and ability to develop code and automation, and to work directly with engineers when appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Own SRE strategy, execution and measurable reliability outcomes for the domain.
• Build and retain high-performing SRE teams with accountability and career development.
• Translate priorities into reliability investments and multi-quarter roadmaps.
• Set priorities and make evidence-based trade-offs across reliability, delivery, risk and business needs.
• Partner with engineering, product, infra, security and risk teams to embed reliability into engineering decisions.
• Provide accountable leadership during incidents and ensure corrective actions are completed.
