The Opportunity:
The Director of Sales and Business Development will lead strategic initiatives to drive growth and volume retention at Recycling Management Resources (RMR) plants. You will oversee a team of business development representatives, supporting their achievement of growth targets through tools, resources, training, quota setting, and resource allocation.
This is a remote position based in the Central or Eastern time zones; proximity to an RMR facility is preferred. The role reports directly to the Chief Commercial Officer.
Travel Demands: Anticipated travel is 25-50%
How You Will Make an Impact:
- Achieve or exceed RMR sourcing and material marketing goals, including volume and margin growth.
- Lead strategy development and execution of RMR supply pipelines, including national accounts.
- Provide sales leadership and coaching to all RMR plant and national account sales representatives to meet KPIs.
- Collaborate with operational leadership to ensure KPIs are achieved.
- Market and sell RMR material to maximize value.
- Lead, mentor, and manage business development team members.
- Set individual sales targets and monitor performance.
- Manage sales budgets and allocate resources effectively.
- Develop and implement strategic business development plans.
- Monitor industry trends to identify new opportunities.
- Develop and report on key performance metrics, adjusting tactics as needed.
- Analyze market and competitor activities to refine sales strategies.
- Lead training sessions to enhance team skills.
- Review sales activities and customer interactions in CRM systems.
- Support new business opportunities and proposal development.
- Oversee proposals, presentations, and pitches.
- Collaborate with marketing and cross-functional teams.
- Provide market insights to senior management.
- Develop and manage budgets for business development.
- Represent the company at industry events.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Continuously improve business development strategies.
What You Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field.
- At least 7 years of experience in business development or sales leadership.
- Experience managing a team of business development representatives.
- Proven success in meeting revenue targets.
- Strong understanding of market dynamics and customer needs.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to develop strategic partnerships.
- Experience leading and managing teams.
- Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
- Strategic thinking and execution skills.
- Experience in developing business plans and sales strategies.
- Proven ability to drive sales from planning to closing.
