Job summary

Starbucks seeks a Director of Privacy to lead a team of privacy and records management professionals, directing operational and program activities in privacy, cybersecurity, AI governance, and data governance. The role reports to the director of Managing Corporate Counsel, Privacy, and collaborates with senior executives and in-house counsel to manage risks with pragmatic clarity.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in privacy.
• Expertise managing privacy operations and programs aligned with U.S. state and federal laws and international regulations.
• Privacy-by-design experience and collaboration with technology/engineering teams.
• Proven ability to build relationships with attorneys, program managers, and business partners.

Responsibilities

• Manage the comprehensive Starbucks privacy operations program under guidance to ensure compliance while protecting brand integrity.
• Serve as a trusted advisor on privacy, cybersecurity, incident response, AI governance, and data governance.
• Design privacy-compliant technologies and platforms following privacy-by-design principles.
• Lead privacy platforms coordination with vendors and cross‑functional teams.
• Provide leadership on privacy operations including data mapping, DRAs, retention, and cross‑border transfers.
• Assist counsel with regulatory inquiries and audits, and engage regulators as needed.
• Develop enterprise-wide policies and training on privacy, cybersecurity, and national security.
