Job summary

Pittsburgh Mercy is seeking a Manager of Emergency Shelter Services to lead its facility-based shelter programs including Second Avenue Commons and Bethlehem Haven's Emergency Women’s Shelter. The role ensures safe, trauma-informed, person-centered, and low-barrier services for people experiencing homelessness.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree with 3 years as a manager/supervisor and 3+ years in human services or healthcare.
• Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years as a manager/supervisor and 5+ years in human services or healthcare.
• Experience in mental health residential, substance use treatment and/or homeless services preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, plus strong documentation and meeting deadlines.
• Driver’s license and ability to operate a company vehicle.
• ACT 33/34/73 clearances and pre-employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and operational direction for Pittsburgh Mercy's shelter programs (Second Avenue Commons & Bethlehem Haven).
• Supervise program leadership and direct service teams.
• Ensure compliance with DHS requirements, contracts, and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with internal departments and community partners to strengthen service coordination.
• Promote a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
