Job summary

MV Transportation is seeking a General Manager to lead the Decatur location, guiding daily operations, staff development, and client relations to meet annual business plans.

You will oversee fleet maintenance, safety programs, and financial performance while ensuring compliance with DOT/FTA requirements and customer contracts. Strong leadership and budgetary skills are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• College degree or equivalent business management experience.
• Management experience required.
• Minimum 5 years of operations management and 7 years of management or supervisory experience in a transit environment with knowledge of Trapeze scheduling software.
• Labor/union negotiations/expenses expertise.
• Full understanding of dispatch, scheduling, driver recruitment, and safety DOT/FTA compliance.
• MS Office, strong analytical skills, strong written and verbal communication skills and high degree of multi-tasking skills.
• Additional duties/responsibilities based upon contract requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct the assigned location to achieve annual business plans and meet contractual obligations.
• Control daily operation of the transportation contract in accordance with agency policies and company procedures.
• Effectively manage customer relations and outreach programs.
• Identify, train, and mentor location staff; communicate with location staff and support teams.
• Oversee vehicle maintenance plans and fleet availability to meet service requirements.
• Oversee safety and training programs to ensure compliance with policies, contracts, and regulations.
• Maintain client contact to meet or exceed expectations; conduct audits and review key metrics.
• Manage location financial metrics; report exceptions and develop action plans for financial, safety, and operational targets.
• Implement and adhere to company policies; interact with labor relations and policy changes.
• Support contract renewals and prepare annual location budgets.
