Job summary

Boats Group seeks a Director of Technical Accounting in Miami, FL, to act as the company’s primary authority on complex accounting. You will report to the VP of Accounting and partner with the CFO, auditors, and cross-functional teams on evolving standards and critical transactions.

You will own policy frameworks, manage external audits, and guide SOX controls while driving adoption of new FASB/IASB standards. This role requires leadership, strong communication, and hands-on policy development.

Qualifications

• CPA required; Big 4 public accounting experience strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with meaningful time in technical accounting, audit, or SEC reporting.
• Deep command of US GAAP; familiarity with IFRS a plus.
• Proven track record authoring technical accounting memos and presenting positions to auditors and senior leadership.
• Experience supporting M&A transactions - due diligence, purchase accounting, integration.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to synthesize complex issues for non-accounting audiences.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical accounting research on complex transactions, standards, and emerging issues with clear memos.
• Own the company's accounting policy framework: draft, update, and operationalize policies.
• Partner with Legal, FP&A, M&A, and leaders on deal structuring, revenue recognition, and non-routine transactions.
• Serve as primary liaison with external auditors and manage the technical accounting workstream.
• Oversee SOX compliance for technical accounting controls and coordinate testing.
• Drive implementation of new FASB/IASB standards with cross-functional coordination and exec communication.
• Lead intercompany accounting governance including transfer pricing alignment and eliminations.
• Mentor and develop accounting team members through training and knowledge-sharing.
