Job summary

Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts is seeking a Director of Security for a pre-opening luxury resort project in the Dominican Republic. You will lead security operations, risk management, and crisis planning to safeguard guests, staff, and assets.

Ideal candidates bring pre-opening luxury hospitality experience, strong leadership, and proficiency with security systems, governance, and emergency response. Fluency in English is required; Spanish is a strong advantage.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience as a Director of Security or senior security leader in a luxury hotel/resort.
• Luxury hospitality pre-opening experience strongly preferred.
• Expertise in security operations, risk management, crisis response, and emergency planning.
• Ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing teams.
• Thorough understanding of hotel security systems, surveillance tech, access control, and investigations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the pre-opening strategy, planning, and setup of the Security department.
• Develop and implement security, safety, and risk management programs across the resort.
• Establish security policies, procedures, and emergency response protocols in line with Four Seasons standards and local regulations.
• Recruit, train, mentor, and develop a high-performing Security team.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement preventive measures for guests, employees, assets, and reputation.
• Oversee all physical security operations: access control, surveillance, investigations, incident management.
• Partner with resort leadership to ensure safety across pre-opening and operations.
• Build relationships with local law enforcement, emergency services, and authorities.
• Lead crisis management, emergency preparedness, business continuity, disaster recovery.
• Monitor security trends, regulatory requirements; ensure proactive compliance.
• Prepare and manage departmental budgets, resources, and security tech investments.
• Investigate incidents and produce reports with corrective actions.

About the location:

Four Seasons Resort and Residences Dominican Republic at Tropicalia will feature 95 keys and 25 branded residential homes, 8 distinct F&B outlets, all thoughtfully designed to reflect a contemporary interpretation of the Dominican Republic’s natural beauty. Wellness will be a defining pillar of the property, delivering a holistic experience that harmonizes with the natural environment while enhancing overall wellbeing through the restorative power of nature. The sustainable luxury destination is located on a 60-acre (24 hectare) site along the pristine beachfront of Playa Esmeralda in northeastern Dominican Republic, along the southern shores of Samaná Bay. A site of breathtaking natural beauty, Tropicalia is home to a diverse ecosystem of white-sand beaches; crystalline, aquamarine water and coral reefs; mountains, forests, mangroves, lagoons and rivers; a working coconut plantation; and an organic farm.

What You Will Do

• Lead the pre-opening strategy, planning, and setup of the Security department.

• Develop and implement comprehensive security, safety, and risk management programs across the resort.

• Establish security policies, procedures, and emergency response protocols in line with Four Seasons standards and local regulations.

• Recruit, train, mentor, and develop a high-performing Security team.

• Conduct risk assessments and implement preventive measures to safeguard guests, employees, assets, and reputation.

• Partner with resort leadership to ensure a safe and secure environment throughout all phases of the pre-opening and ongoing operations.

• Build andmaintainstrong relationships with local law enforcement, emergency services, and government authorities.

• Lead crisis management, emergency preparedness, business continuity, and disaster recovery planning.

• Monitor security trends, threats, and regulatory requirements, ensuring the resortremainscompliant and proactive.

• Prepare and manage departmental budgets, resources, and security technology investments.

• Investigate incidents, produce detailed reports, and recommend corrective actions to mitigate future risks.

What You Will Bring

• Proven leadership experience as a Director of Security or senior Security leader within a luxury hotel or resort environment.

• Previouspre-opening experience in a luxury hospitality setting is highly preferred.

• Strongexpertisein security operations, risk management, crisis response, and emergency planning.

• Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing teams.

• Thorough understanding of hotel security systems, surveillance technology, access control, and investigative procedures.

• Experience working closely with government agencies, law enforcement, and emergency response organizations.

• Strong knowledge of health, safety, fire life safety, and regulatory compliance requirements.

• Exceptional communication, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills.

• Fluency in English isrequired; Spanish language skills are a strong advantage.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced pre-opening environment, managing multiple priorities whilemaintainingthe highest standards of service, professionalism, and discretion.
