Job summary

The NYC Department of Social Services, through HRA and DHS, seeks a Director of Security to lead citywide security operations, oversee roughly 80 Peace Officers and 500 contracted guards, and ensure the safety of staff and clients across all HRA facilities.

The role requires strategic security planning, contract oversight, emergency response leadership, on-site inspections, and collaboration with NYPD and other agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 4 years of full-time experience in creating, maintaining and enhancing a comprehensive physical security program for a large governmental agency; at least 18 months in administrative, managerial or executive capacity.
• Six years with a high school diploma equivalent and relevant security experience; at least 18 months in admin/managerial capacity.
• Education or experience equivalent to the above, with the eighteen months in supervisory roles.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight of citywide security operations, including ~80 Peace Officers and ~500 contracted security guards.
• Oversee security contracts, monitor performance, ensure contract compliance, and implement corrective actions.
• Direct the 24-hour emergency desk; ensure proper screening and referrals for emergencies.
• Develop and enforce security procedures to protect staff and clients across HRA facilities.
• Oversee on-site inspections of staff, locations and equipment to assess security needs.
• Advise HRA senior staff on security issues and coordinate with Police/Investigations and other agencies.
