Job summary

UMBC seeks a Director of Talent Payroll and Onboarding Administration to lead payroll and onboarding services, ensuring accurate and compliant processing for university employees. You will partner with HR and IT to integrate systems, develop procedures, and support strategic planning.

The role requires a strong background in payroll management, HR compliance, and leading a team, with flexibility for hybrid work arrangements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related area.
• Three years of payroll experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Independent judgement in resolving complex issues.
• Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines.
• Ability to work in various environments including remote/on-site.

Responsibilities

• Leads a payroll and onboarding services team to ensure accurate, timely payroll processing and onboarding.
• Oversee day-to-day payroll operations and HR transactions.
• Develop and implement payroll procedures to ensure data accuracy and compliance.
• Partner with HRIS to integrate payroll systems and improve efficiency.
• Create trainings and SOPs for payroll users and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance and audit readiness across HR/payroll activities.
• Provide guidance and mentoring for professional development.
