Job summary

UMBC seeks a Director of Talent Payroll and Onboarding Administration to lead payroll and onboarding services, ensuring accurate, timely processing and compliance. You will partner with the CHRO on strategic planning and oversee HRIS integration with payroll systems to drive efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related area.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Independent judgement in resolving complex issues.
• Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines.
• Ability to work in remote or on-campus environments; HRIS experience.

Responsibilities

• Leads a team of payroll and onboarding services staff responsible for accurate, timely processing of HR onboarding and payroll transactions.
• Oversee day-to-day payroll operations and processing of HR and payroll transactions.
• Develop and implement payroll procedures to ensure data accuracy and legal compliance.
• Lead, coach and mentor the Payroll and Onboarding Services unit.
• Partner with HRIS to ensure integrated, streamlined HRIS and payroll systems.
• Develop trainings, SOPs, and communications for payroll users.
• Collaborate with other departments to improve processes and support the university's mission.
• Ensure payroll and security compliance and audit requirements.
